about

I recorded this at home back in April 2020 during the shutdown, and my longtime buddy/drummer Matt Crouse tracked loops, keys, and drums at his home studio, his collaborator Mike Jackson added some tasty electric guitar and bass, and my friend Molly Jewell did harmony parts from her house, and then my friend Joe Martino mixed it for me, and long time mastering maestro/buddy Alex McCollough mastered it. This photo is from around the time I recorded it and the track sounds as moody as I felt most days walking around a deserted downtown Nashville week after week.

lyrics

US

You don’t know what I like, If you know what I mean
You don’t know how I feel, or you refuse to believe
You know what I mean you took advantage of me

You don’t walk where you can’t see the path
And I’ve been know to walk a little like that
But there’s a stone in the road left by another man

Chorus:
You don’t know why you just can’t trust
Everything you don’t use just turns to rust
Another heart on a shelf slowly turning to dust
Oh you don’t know a damn thing about us

You took my hand with a little remorse
That It’d be tough to ever get it you warned
In the box of the way that things were before

You ain't’ no Angel, I sure ain’t Christ
Please don’t put me upon no spikes
I’d prefer not to be your martyr tonight

Chorus (2x)
